Who is responsible for the main proceedings?

The court is responsible for conducting the main proceedings. The public prosecutor’s office becomes a party to the proceedings from the moment of filing the charges. A distinction must be made in the court’s jurisdiction between:

  • District Court
  • Regional court composed of a single judge
  • Regional court composed of of lay assessors
  • Regional court composed of a jury
