FAQ

How is child support regulated?

In principle, both parents, whether married or not, are obliged to contribute to the maintenance of their child. A distinction must be made between maintenance in kind and monetary maintenance (alimony). If the child lives with the parents in the same household, he or she is entitled to maintenance in kind. This includes, e.g., accommodation and food as well as clothing, leisure activities, etc. If both parents or one parent do not live with the child in the same household, the one who does not live in the same household pays alimony in the form of money.
