FAQ

Can the right of inheritance be barred by the statute of limitations?

Although, according to the prevailing view, the right of inheritance itself is not subject to a statute of limitations, the action for inheritance is subject to a three-year statute of limitations, which begins to run from the time of knowledge of the facts relevant to the existence of the claim. In addition, there is an absolute limitation period of 30 years from the death of the decedent.
