Which persons may generally not be appointed as representatives?

All the above-mentioned forms of representation have in common that certain persons are excluded from being potential representatives. These include individuals who are themselves under protection or from whom an appropriate representation of the person concerned cannot be expected (e.g., those convicted of a crime). Additionally, individuals who are in a dependent relationship or in a comparable close relationship with an institution that cares for the adult person are also not authorized for representation.

Furthermore, no more than 15 representations may be assumed by the same person simultaneously – an exception to this maximum number applies, for example, to adult protection associations.
