What is the purpose of criminal proceedings and what are the stages of proceedings?

The purpose of criminal proceedings is essentially the prevention and investigation of criminal acts, the prosecution of suspects and, of course, the conviction of criminal acts.
The criminal procedure is divided into three different stages:

b. Main proceedings
c. Appeal proceedings
