Legal adult representatives can only be next of kin. These include parents and grandparents, adult children and grandchildren, siblings, as well as nieces and nephews. Spouses and registered partners, as well as life partners who have lived together for at least three years, are also included.
Furthermore, in an adult representative order (see above), any person can be designated by the adult person. Ultimately, who is declared the representative and who has which matters to attend to is initially reserved for the eligible next of kin. If there is no agreement, a judicial adult representative must be appointed.
