FAQ

What is administrative offense law?

Administrative offense law is the part of criminal law that is enforced by administrative authorities. The individual administrative offense provisions are regulated in the respective subject-specific laws (e.g., Section 366 (1) (1) Trade Act – exercise of a trade without a trade license).

The VStG contains the general provisions of administrative offense law as well as the provisions on authority competence and the procedure to be followed when imposing penalties. Unless otherwise specified in the VStG, the AVG applies, with the exception of some sections, also to the VStG.
