FAQ

What types of summons are there?

The authority can, at its discretion, choose between two forms of summons:

  • Simple summons
  • Summons with a decree

The difference lies in the fact that the simple summons is issued by procedural order and merely constitutes a request to appear – compliance cannot be enforced. The summons with a decree, however, can be enforced by the imposition of penalties or compulsory attendance. Unlike simple summons – which can be issued orally or by telephone – summonses with a decree must be issued in writing and personally served.
